Governor, federal officials to speak at Oregon's health insurance ...

Federal officials and Gov. John Kitzhaber will speak Thursday at a meeting of Oregon's new health insurance exchange.

The exchange, known as Cover Oregon, will operate an online website that serves as marketplace for individuals and small businesses. Starting in October, they'll be able to purchase health insurance, as well as obtain tax credits if they qualify.

The changes are part of the federal health reform law, the Affordable Care Act. The federal officials include several from the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, which is overseeing state exchanges around the country.

Insurance premium costs in the individual market are expected to change for many people who buy their own insurance next year. Cover Oregon offers a calculator to estimate coverage costs for next year, and so does the Kaiser Family Foundation.

The board meeting starts at 1p.m. at Cover Oregon's headquarters at 16760 SW Upper Boones Ferry Road in? Durham.
